Aboriginal Resources and Pathways – your opportunity to get involved!

NDS's Aboriginal Resources and Pathways (ARP) Networks across NSW have recently grown to more than 600 members. Divided into 20 community networks, they represent more than 150 non-government disability organisations and 350 Aboriginal community members (including 112 Aboriginal community Elders).

NDS currently supports the work of the Aboriginal Resources and Pathways networks in a variety of locations throughout NSW. These forums provide an opportunity for government-funded disability service providers to work hand-in-hand with their local Aboriginal communities to identify and address service access barriers for Aboriginal people with disability.

At the moment, each of these 20 networks is in the process of rolling out a range of resources and initiatives to support local non-government organisation (NGO) disability service providers to provide culturally competent and respectful services to Aboriginal people with disability.

Networks are working collaboratively to:

  • develop a series of standards for culturally competent service delivery
  • provide dedicated training workshops for network groups in the development of targeted and effective Aboriginal Service Delivery Strategies
  • identify Aboriginal Service Delivery Champions throughout NSW
  • plan and implement ProjectAble workshops for Aboriginal people in a range of locations throughout NSW, in order to help Aboriginal school students understand their career opportunities in the disability sector.
